When Jesus was on the cross while saying, “It is Done,” those words can also mean “It has been paid” or “It has been accomplished.” What has already been paid? The price of our redemption. What has been accomplished? The work of His Father that has been assigned to Jesus.

He himself bore our sins in his body on the tree, that we might die to sin and live to righteousness. By his wounds you have been healed. 1 Peter 2:24
