When the psalmist presupposes the Lord as the sun, at that time the psalmist also recognizes God as the great God. The sun can be said as the center of life, which illuminates and cast out the darkness, the source of growth, as well as a source of energy and light. The shield which is ynonymous with protection and is identified with God.
Sun and shield, two different things, but both of them are in God. God sometimes is depicted as a shepherd, the rock, the lamb, the cornerstone, etc. God also has a lot of status in our lives, as a teacher, lover, friend, bestfriend, God, pastor, or other status that often pinned on Him. He is center of everything.
If the center of everything is always around us, in us, wherever we are just like the sun that can illuminate the whole earth, our Lord must be so great. Moreover, the Bible notes that God has given us many things.
He gives His love, His faithfulness, even His sacrifice. The verse above says that He even gives us the glory, although we actually should not accept it properly. He also gives us a favor which is no restraint. Remember, His goodness is no restraint. He pours His goodness like water flowing. Only, His life is with no blemish. Living with the fear of God. Living with the utter faith in Him, God will make everything wonderful.
