God’s Loving Punishment

1986Hebrews 12:6
"For whom the LORD loves He chastens, and scourges every son whom He receives."
God’s punishment is the part of His love, as what He has done toward David. When David sinned, God punished David and let him walk in the darkness. When God rebukes people He loves, He expects them to turn away from their evil ways. David was one of them.
God’s love sometimes looks frightening, because you think that God punishes you. However, you should be grateful when God chastens you with the rod. That’s how He loves you.
Imagine that Indonesia had no law. Surely the citizens would commit crime wildly. That’s why God has law to control everything you do. Couldn’t God chasten you? God couldn’t when His lampstand has left you.
Revelation 2:5 Remember therefore from where you have fallen; repent and do the first works, or else I will come to you quickly and remove your lampstand from its place––unless you repent.
The lampstand is the Holy Spirit that stays in you. This verse tells you that when you sin, what you have to do is confess and repent. As you repent , He is God who forgives and accepts you with His love.
Be open to God, because openness is the beginning of restoration.
