A True Story of Deborah Finley and Her Abusive Stepfather

Since she was three years old, Deborah Finley had to deal with her parents’ divorce. Her father left the whole family. The catastrophe began when a stepfather came into their life. However, she had an encounter with Lord Jesus through this hardship. This is the true story of Deborah Finley and her abusive stepfather.

After splitting with her husband, Deborah’s mother married with a man, whom nice in the beginning but turned into an abusive person later. This stepfather named Gene; he was a drunk and always tortured his wife. This circumstance lasted for so long and there’s no way out, even though they had been divorced once.

On a particular day, Gene was drunk and hit Deborah’s head. She ran into her grandfather’s home and called the police. Later, Gene was arrested. However, Deborah’s biological fathers asked mafia to kill Gene.

So the mafia shot Gene’s house, but no victim. Deborah’s biological father was charged with shooting and the prosecution was taken to court. A day before the court hearing took place, Gene came to Deborah and her biological father that were having dinner. Gene shot her biological father before Deborah. Gene was convicted of manslaughter he was sentenced and had to go to jail.

Since then, Deborah’s life was full of fear. Even when she was married in 17, her husband could not erase Deborah’s fear. One particular night, while watching a TV show, she had an encounter with Lord Jesus.

“I heard someone in the show said that Jesus is the healer of every broken heart. And if you ask God to help you, wherever you are, you can pray like this. So I prayed following the host, and I asked Jesus to forgive me and invited Him to enter my heart. Something miraculous happened; I really felt that my burden was taken away and I felt something different. Since that day, my life is so wonderful because I can find peace,” Deborah said.

Deborah’s life was changed. She started going to church and reading the Bible. As her faith was growing, Deborah decided to forgive her stepfather, Gene, even she guided him to accept Jesus.

“We were holding hands and praying. I asked Jesus to forgive his sins and enter his heart. That event really delivered me. I could not find any proper words to describe how relieving it was,” Deborah ended her testimony.
