Darlene Love

Semenjak single rekaman, "He’s A Rebel” berada di tangga nomor satu musik Amerika Serikat, Darlene Love terus mencetak sejumlah kesuksesan di industri musik. Terbaru, nama penyanyi yang kini berusia 68 tahun itu dinominasikan dalam Rock-and-Roll Hall of Fame.

Darlene Love hanyalah seorang mahasiswa sekolah tinggi di Los Angeles ketika ia keluar dari sebuah paduan suara gereja dan bergabung dengan kelompok vokal perempuan bernama The Blossoms. Bersama Fanita Barrett, Gloria Jones, Jewel Cobbs, Pat Howard, dan Nanette Williams, Darlene memulai debut rekamannya yang kala itu diproduseri Phil Spector. Tidak di duga, album musik pertama keenam wanita cantik itu meledak di pasaran. Namun, karena satu dan lain hal kerjasama The Blossoms dengan Phil Spector tidak bertahan lama.

Sam Cooke yang waktu itu sedang mencari penyanyi dengan suara yang kuat akhirnya menemui Darlene. Tertarik dengan apa yang dimiliki sang calon diva, Sam menyodorkan tawaran rekaman yang akhirnya diterima oleh penyanyi bersangkutan. Darlene dengan The Blossoms-nya terus memukau masyarakat Amerika Serikat era tahun 60-an sampai 70-an lewat suara mereka. Bahkan pada masa tersebut, mereka sudah menjadi penyanyi latar The Beach Boys, The Mamas & The Papas, Tom Jones, The Righteous Brothers, dan Sonny & Cher.

Setelah merasa cukup dengan karir musik berkelompok, Darlene memutuskan untuk bersolo karir. Walaupun seorang diri, kesuksesan tetap diraih olehnya bahkan bisa dikatakan lebih besar. Ia muncul sebagai model cover di majalah People, tampil dalam dokumenter televisi CNN, dan bernyanyi di berbagai program televisi nasional, seperti TODAY, Rosie O'Donnell, Maury Povich, Politically Incorrect, Donny & Marie dan Oprah Winfrey show.

Darlene juga menikmati keberhasilan dari album Natal yang dirilisnya pada tahun 2007 "It’s Christmas Of Course!" Bahkan kini ia selalu sibuk dengan jadwal tur musiknya. Imannya kepada Allah dan semangat kerja yang tinggi membuatnya terus berkarya hingga hari ini.
