Who says that God’s children can only sing and worship in a church? In IMAGO Hack 7, hundreds of God’s children collaborate together to realize a breakthrough that can make a positive impact on their environment, society, and other important fields of this nation. IMAGO Hack 7 is a creative competition, where children of God gather, unite, and collaborate to activate their talents in media, technology, and other creative industry.

For three days, about 134 participants hailing from various communities took part in this event, held from July 7th-9th 2017 in Kejora HQ, Jakarta. The participants were divided into small groups according to their interest. There are three groups: hustler, hipster, and hacker; each consisting of people who are expert in their group. Hustlers are those who often pick up the responsibilities of a project manager; they are often experienced in managing a project or an organization. Hipsters are those who are often involved in projects as designer and deal with the interface of a product, including the marketing tools needed; these are people learned in graphic design, UI/UX, product design, motion graphic, art directing, and videography. Hackers, meanwhile, consist of those who often work as programmers for digital application projects; experts in programming and coding belong to this category as well.

Interestingly, in this competition, the participants were assigned the best mentors in their respective fields to guide them in ensuring that the project they’re working on will have a direct applicable use. These mentors were, among others, Marsya Manopo, Barry Likumahua, Andy Zain, Billy Boen, Tracy Trinita, Christofer Tapiheru, Josua Iwan Wahyudi, Benny Pattinasarani, Ellen Nio, Daniel Giovanni. But it wouldn’t have been a competition without judges and crowned victors. At the end of the event, every team was given the chance to present the results of their collaborative hard work. Their works were then assessed by competent judges like Andy Zain, Hartono Sugianto, Ericko Tandayu, Ary M. Wibowo, and Ryan Jauwena. This prestigious competition was won by the bloodstopper team, whose idea for breakthrough is for stopping the bleeding of war victims using banana midrib. The runner-up was team Abba, who created a mobile Bible audio-book to make it easy for everyone to listen to their daily Bible reflection.
