What can make you happy? Is it money or spouse? Unwittingly, sometimes we worship another god in our life. In the ancient times, people might have another god like worshipping a tree. But now it’s different. Another god can be money, position, or even spouses.
Human’s desire to pursue his own desire is acceptable. However, is every human desire good? Sometimes, one’s desire is merely for his own sake or for lust.
In the Book of Exodus, God says: “You shall have no other
gods before Me.” (Exodus 20:3)
It is one of God’s commandments. He is a jealous God. Loving a person or a job too much is betraying the Lord. Loving your spouse too much or working too hard is opposed by God. Yes, we need money, but the love of money can turn into a god in our lives. Besides, working so hard and forget to worship God is a sign that we betray God.
In Hebrews 10:25, God says, “not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another , and so much the more as you see the Day approaching.”
Keep relying on God at all times and in all things. Controlling ourselves from the desires of
the flesh and the lust is not easy, but keep trying. God does not forbid us to
work hard, but He does not us worship the work more than God. Keep working, but
make worshiping God a priority in your life because that’s what He asks us for.
Let us learn from Daniel who relied on God.
God’s providence is more than life. Having Jesus means having
everything.
