Yerry Pattinasarani's Life Was Ruined Due To Drugs

Yerry Pattinasarani is a son of the national football legend, Ronny Pattinasarani. Since he was young, Yerry has gained many accomplishments in sports; one of which was the big four in U-16 national tennis championship. But the achievements turned to ruin because of drugs.

In the beginning, an alcohol salesman introduced Yerry to drugs. The salesman offered him Nipam tablets. After he was persuaded, he consumed the tablets which he has not realized dangerous to him. On the next day, he desired to try drugs again and again. And as time goes by, he finally consumed heroin.

He consumed heroin three times a day. One day, he felt something is wrong with his body. He had pain in his whole body. He knew from his friends that he was hangover. Since then, he learned that he was addicted to heroin. Being tired of what he hid from his parents, then on one particular day when his father arrived home, he told him that he was addicted to drugs. He was convinced that his father would get mad and beat him, but that did not happen. His father asked him to turn back and be healed.

Since then, Yerry kept using drugs. He was frustrated due to his addiction. He thought it’s impossible for him to be healed, the he decided to take his own life. Before his suicide using pesticide, he wrote letters to his father and mother. “Dad, mom, do not blame on each other when I die.” Before he wrote the last letter, he drank the pesticide near him. However, in the next morning, he woke up and felt that he was still on earth and he was not dead. That made him believe that God still loved him and He showed him a bright future to be reach.

However, his determination has not worked well. He fell again into drugs. Again and again, his father showed him love. Ronny Pattinasarani’s fight finally produced result. Yerry was free from drugs.

But in 2008, the powerful football player that ever lived in Indonesia—Ronny Pattinasarani—breathed his last due to cancer. Ronny Pattinasarani bequeathed a history not only for Indonesia, but also his wife and children.

For tribute to his father, Yerry established anti-drug foundation named Ronny Pattinasarani Foundation.

“I am so thankful until today that I don't fall into drugs no more. My days are without drugs. God allows my past to be an asset to help others, children who fall into drugs and have HIV/AIDS, as well; whose background quite similar to mine.”

“To me, Jesus is the Saviour. He saves me. To me, Jesus is the Healer. He takes away my sickness. Therefore, to me Jesus is everything. To me, Jesus is God,” Yerry Pattinasarani concluded.
