Tough Life Lead Me To Being a Brutal Man

Royke was a man with tough life background who was grown up in a big city. He grew into a man that filled with hatred, anger, and heartlessness toward people.

Fighting and free sex became parts of Royke’s life since he was a teenager. He considered these as normal if he wanted to survive in the midst of tough life at the city.

“So, the violence was an ordinary thing. It was normal to me for surviving, since I didn’t get affection any more from parents,” Royke said.

He justified all things to get what he wanted, even if he had to use violence. In his ruthless manner, Royke felt comfortable. So, would Royke be like this forever?

After a while, all things seem changed when he met a woman who became his wife right now. For a while, love might change Royke, but that did not last longer.

“I saw that this woman was very beautiful, so I experienced so-called love at first sight,” he said.

The three-year marriage was alright. However, Royke’s cruelty was finally revealed. Mercilessly, he often beat his wife.

“At that moment, when my husband beat me, he did it unconsciously. He did not know whom he beat, even though it was his wife, indeed. He was unconscious,” Rina, his wife, said.

Not only venting his anger to his wife, his child was also treated the same.

“I felt satisfied after did some violence at that time,” he said.

When Royke’s attitude has capped the climax, Rina could only surrender her belief to God so that He can change his life.

Tearfully, in her prayer, Rina trusted God that He would change her husband’s hard heart.

Finally, the wife’s prayer seemed real and God was working in Royke’s heart. His family’s background that was filled with violence finally revealed. Unconsciously, his father’s attitude that he watched a lot when he was a child had been spread to little Royke.

At one moment, Royke felt there’s no more hope, his heart felt the emptiness inside. The unhappiness between the family as well as the powerlessness always bothered his heart and mind. Until at last, a desire to seek God’s presence emerged.

Through a service, finally Royke was touched and felt God’s presence real and touched his life.

“Lord Jesus is so real and there for me. I could feel my burden was lifted up,” Royke said.

Through a melodious worship hymn, Royke could feel that God touched his heart. He admitted that his actions in the past were not God’s favor. After ten-year praying, Rina got the answer of her desire upon her husband.

Royke, that used to be ruthless, brutal, and violent, now turned to a gentle and sweet-tempered man. Hasn’t God showed His power that is able to change brutal Saul into Paul, the faithful God’s servant? So did Royke. God is able, He is able.
