Humans are Made to Live in Colony

When God created the first human, Adam, He thought that it was not good for Adam to be alone (Genesis 2:18). This means that far before some experts formulate a theory that humans are social creatures, God has already stated it. Since humans are created to be part of a group, have you lived well as an individual capable of maintaining good relationship with others?

Building and maintaining good relationship is a habit that we need to build wherever and whenever we are, like in a family, office, communities, etc. Although humans are created as social creature, some people decide to limit their interactions with their environment. But why do they decide to work alone without the intervention and help from other people? According to John C. Maxwell, there are four reasons why some people choose to work on their own.

1.    Ego

Very few people are willing to admit that they can’t do everything, despite life proving otherwise.

2.    Discomfort

Some people fail to cooperate in a team with others because they feel uncomfortable and threatened.

3.    Naivety

Some people underestimate the difficulties and probabilities of bad things that can occur as they are shooting for big goals, and so they decide to work alone.

4.    Temperament

Some people are not very good at communicating with others and have never even considered about building or participating in a team.
