Like Peter Who Walked on Water

“Come,” he said. Then Peter got down out of the boat, walked on the water and came toward Jesus.” – Matthew 14:29

Often, we only dare to take an action of faith when we actually have a backup plan or a safety net for when all else fail. Sometimes we go through times full of cautions, times filled with doubts, and times when we are in desperate need of advice from those more mature than us, be it in terms of faith or experience. But sometimes we need to take an action of faith when we need to strike fearlessly through risks and opportunities ahead of us.

The older we get, the more afraid we are of risk and the more we try to stay in our comfort zone. We need everything to be served in front of us. We always want to know what might happen after this or that. However, sometimes God says this to us, “I will not let you know what will happen in the future. I only need you to have a complete faith in me when you step and advance forward.”

To heed what God intends us to do sometimes seems like an option full of risks, as we remain uncertain of what’s ahead of us. But it’s actually the other way around. If we rest our faith fully in the Lord, stepping on the path of faith is the one true way that He Himself has guaranteed. This does not mean that this is a path free from challenges. Quite the opposite, it’ll be full of challenges that will train the muscles of our faith so that we remain strong, so that we keep on growing in learning to know about Him. More importantly than everything, God will never leave us alone.

So today, take the risk by fully surrendering and obeying God. Take the risk of stepping on the path of faith. Learn to surrender your life completely upon Him, as He is the most guaranteed safety net. See how it turns out by yourself. How God will perform His works in your life when you proceed through steps of faith.
