Renata Owen: I Felt Really Down Before

This specific edition contains a beautiful illustration by a young lady, who has sparked a discussion about her talent. Renata Owen, the illustrator of this beautiful design piece, created the design for the bottle while she is still in college. This beautiful girl, who got hooked to drawing when she was still a kid, is today a reliable designer and illustrator with portfolio of stunning and quality works. But there is an interesting story behind her works, of a long journey that she walks through with God.

“When doing an illustration, sometimes there are vibrant colors that dominate the dull ones. This should make us think that dull moments in our lives are just obstacles for us to overcome. In the industry nowadays, there are so many illustrations with better or more beautiful design. This makes me feel down at times; I was overwhelmed with doubt of whether I could produce works with such quality. I am competing with other talented illustrators out there whose works are more sophisticated. I realize that my skillset in this field is still very limited, and it discourages me of whether I could get my dream projects. Fortunately, those self-doubts are never great enough to stop me from drawing illustrations. I always believe that God is preparing me for something big, so I should not stop at a point where I have yet to achieve anything. At the end, God will be the one who casts the vibrant colors over the dull shades of my life.” Said Renata, ending her testimony for other youth through Generasi Zeru.

The young lady, who has really been passionate with her profession and hobby, also shown Generasi Zeru her other works, like the books Dru and the Tale of the Five Kingdom and The Nonsense Tale.

When it comes to feeling unconfident, it is a common dilemma in nearly every single youth, including Kia. Kia is a 17 year old teenager who shows great talent in playing piano. Unfortunately, she is not quite confident of her own talent and ability. This is because both of her parents possess a different talent, singing. Kia is also a loyal viewer of Generasi Zeru TV program and always feels inspired and motivated by every episode. After watching an episode, Kia often shares her burden with Generasi Zeru through whatsapp or SMS.

“I am always sad because my friend at school always asks me, “Why can’t you sing like both of your parents?” Although it is only coming from my close friend, but it makes me feel that I am blessed with no talent. I actually want to be a singer just like my parents, but this is only a dream for me because my voice could never rival theirs. The only thing I could do is playing piano and violin, that’s all. My father’s friend recently offered me to play in an event. I took the offer because I’d want to train to perform in front of an audience, and I would want to prove that I can do my best although not in singing.
