Since the newborn baby boy from the second marriage was present in this family, Nana Saragih’s father was changed, and Nana hated it so much. Her heart was torn even more because the love of his father has been divided.
In her teenage years, Nana has been treated unfairly by her father. He even had a heart to marry someone else and had a son from that woman.
“At that moment, daddy was changed. He used to care for me, now he did not. That made me hated him even more,” she said.
Since she was underestimated due to her gender, she was hurt. Since then, she determined to prove that a woman also deserves and was able to gain success.
“I wanted to show daddy that boys are not necessarily more superb than me, which is a girl.”
She learned hard and she gained a lot of achievements in school. However, her daddy paid no attention to her accomplishments. Hatred filled her soul. Yet, in the midst of stress and depression, her mother was still able to calm and remind her.
Having grown up, she held her obsession tight. The first obsession was being rich. To achieve that, Nana worked very hard. She even did not consider relationship and interaction as important parts of her life.
“I wanted to be rich. If I got rich, I would have a lot of money, I rode a car, and my daddy would be proud of me.”
The earnings of her scarf business increased sharply. Since then, she made up her mind. She acted like money was everything, and the recognition from her dad would come easily. While she was on the top of success, her father was diagnosed with chronic liver cancer. Shortly after that, she had to face crisis in her business because one of his employees cheated her.
“It turned out that my business in Batam had been managed badly by my men,” she said.
The crisis has not subsided yet, and Nana had to accept her father’s death. Since then, she lost all things he had gained. However, Nana began to work again with minimum wage.
Unexpectedly, Nana’s mind was transformed. She realized that her obsession with money was barely wrong since she had friends who were always grateful. Nana learned from them that she could be happy and grateful in spite of a little money.
“There was a deep regret in my heart. If only I could turn back time, maybe the first thing I did was talking with my father. Maybe talking with me was his desire,” she recalled.
But that desire has never come true. She used to think that her only responsibility as a child was meeting the parents’ need. Yet when she took a look at people who were grateful always, even in the limitation, she was so thankful, and she knew that God used that circumstance to heal her. Now, orientation and obsession of money is no longer the priority. Nana realized that money might come and go easily.
The healing brings her to the God’s amazing favor. As time goes by, God heals my finances, and now she becomes a blessing to each other. To her, having intimate relationship with God is the most important thing in life, because it will enable her to love, accept, be patient, and care for each other.
