A Conqueror with Mentality of a Lion

Proverbs 30:30

A lion, which is mighty among beasts and does not turn away from any.

A lion is called the ‘King of the Jungle’ because of his big and strong body, his charisma, his strong muscles and sharp teeth. Moreover, a lion is never afraid of attacking or being attacked, though he has to deal with beasts. Thus, he is called the king of the jungle, the most feared of all animals.

In David versus Goliath’s story, we learn how David conquered the mighty giant. Young David’s bravery represents strong mentality, unlike the army of Israel or King Saul who didn’t dare to fight against the enemy even though they were much more experienced. However, what David had was only sling stones instead of enormous supplies.

David showed that his mentality did not depend on supplies. His mentality did not depend on age, strong muscles, or any skills. David’s mentality is like mentality of a lion—he fears nothing against the enemy. However, at that moment David put his trust in God. It enabled David to do impossible things, for God has promised him to help and be there for him always. God also equips us with understanding, wisdom, heart, and many other things. We are created not to be a loser, but a conqueror. “Yet in all these things we are more than conquerors through Him who loved us.” (Romans 8:37)

Proverbs 30:30 reminds us that a lion fears nothing. That should be a picture of us, as believers. We might not deal with mighty Goliath, but there are many other Goliaths. There are many problems and challenges ahead, and in order to be a conqueror we need to have mentality of a lion, like David did. No matter what your problem right now, do not be afraid, because God’s power is bigger.

 

Have the mentality of a conqueror, like a lion, instead of a loser.
