The Second Chance

Jonah 3:1-2

Now the word of the LORD came to Jonah the second time, saying, "Arise, go to Nineveh, that great city, and preach to it the message that I tell you."

I keep wondering after reading the story of how God came to Jonah for the second time. Just like Jonah, I often run away from responsibility God has given me. I try to hide from every life’s demand that I am dealing with.

But many times God gives me the second chance. He forgives my ignorance, comes to me, and then directs me to the right path. Yet God has His own way to make us obey His calling. Though at first Jonah tried to run from the Lord, he was eventually back and obey God’s command after his effort to run to Tarshish (Jonah 1:3-4).

Then how about our life? Do we give our child the second chance when he/she does not obey our command? Do we give our loved ones the second chance when they make mistakes? God has given Jonah the second chance; how about us?

 

Our God is the God of mercy. He is the God of second chance.
