2 Timothy 1:5

When I call to remembrance the unfeigned faith that is in thee, which dwelt first in thy grandmother Lois, and thy mother Eunice; and I am persuaded that in thee also.

In his letter to Timothy, the apostle Paul showed us the precious heritage that can be inherited from generation to generation. It was not treasure, but faith. The faith of Timothy's grandmother, Lois, was inherited to his mother, Eunice, and later to Timothy himself.

How to leave this eternal heritage for an inheritance?

-teaching children about the truth from the word of God. Since they are little, children have to be taught about the truth from the word of God and we should guide them so that they can have personal relationship with God. It will lead them in the future.

-being an example through living the values of God's Kingdom. We can teach our kids the Bible, but it will be useless if we don't live in the word of God. Live the values of God's Kingdom and let everyone in your life, including your children, see clearly that Christ lives in you.

-serving God through serving people. It sounds louder than what we speak of. If we want our children not to be selfish, then start with ourselves. Serve other people with humility and joy.

-being an intercessor for our children. A prayer can change many things, more than what we can imagine and hope. Every prayer for people we love will not be in vain.

-show them sincere love. They need to feel loved and accepted for who they are. Show them God's love--an unconditional love.

As parents, we have some limitations. But when we allow God to involve in this life, we have nothing to worry about.

The treasure can be stolen, vanished, and it also causes conflict. But faith as heritage can cause peace and lasts forever.
