And in all matters of wisdom and understanding about which the king examined them, he found them ten times better than all the magicians and astrologers who were in all his realm.
Everyone knows who Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego are. We are amazed with the four youngsters of Israel because they are ten times smarter than all the magicians and astrologers who were in Babylonia (Daniel 1:20). Their big impact caused jealous among others and many people tried to bring them down. However, they incredibly remained. That’s why their attitudes represent leadership.
Their excellence has to do with their life style of discipline. Even though Daniel, Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego were in the foreign land, they were disciplined just like when they were in Israel. They were not lulled with worldly pleasure. The evidence was when they were offered what meal to eat, they asked some vegetables to eat and water to drink (Daniel 1:12). Besides, they were diligently prayed to God for some struggles such as the worship of Nebuchadnezzar idol.
As people who admire those Israel youngsters’ excellence, shall we imitate them? We knew the reason behind his excellence that is DISCIPLINE. Hence, if we want to be amazing people surround us through our life style; let us be disciplined in small things. Let us be today’s Daniels!
Life style of discipline bears excellence which appears through one’s living.
