Drugs have intoxicated Bui Min since he was a teenager and made him a slave of drugs. To Bui Min, being a drugs addict was a pride, because he found a family that much comfortable than his own family.

When he was little, Bui Min’s father and mother were not so closed because basically his father was ignorant and frequently expressed dirty words. Cursing and slap have been common that Bui Min usually received from his father. The most disappointing thing from his father is his habit, that was gambling. Especially when his father lost money gambling; his father would became very wrath. In front of his friends, Bui Min was often treated badly by his father. Sadness, disappointment, shame, and broken heart were kept in his heart. Bui Min accepted his father’s rudeness in silence.

Bui Min tried to forget the incidents. But one event hurt his heart once again. With his own eyes, Bui Min saw his father sink his little brother’s body into a bathtub while scolding his father with bad words. To Bui Min, for any mistakes his little brother did, he didn;td eserve that kind of punishment. However, in 1982, Bui Min’s family was in trouble. Gambling brought his father into bankruptcy. At that moment, Bui Min must live separately from his little brother.

The hatred that his father sowed took Bui Min into the trap of drugs. Even after his father went to Hongkong, without his knowing, his little brother also grew up in rebellion and drugs abuse. Dangers lurked. A Cung, Bui Min’s little brother, was arrested by police when he held a drugs party. A Cung was sentenced to 9 months imprisonment, and then released. For a while, Bui Min was calmed down. But that did not happen for a long time. A Cung’s temperament was getting worse. A Cung started using a syringe. A Cung also turned violent and hard to advise. Moreover, A Cung dared to hit Bui Min, his elder brother. The fight was unavoidable.

Bui Min’s heart was broken because his lovely brother became his rival. But when Bui Min looked at his mother’s patience, his heart was touched. His mother was the most important thing to Bui Min. With meekness, his mother kept advising Bui Min to stop wasting his life by consuming drugs.

“I only thought that, my mother’s labor to give birth to me was in vain. I became her son in vain. And I had a desire not to burden my mother no more.  I decided to stop …,” Bui Min testified.

Slowly, Bui Min could release himself from addiction. However, Bui Mun had to keep struggling for A Cung, his little brother. Until one day, A Cung, as usual, ask Bui Min for drugs. Reluctantly, Bui Min gave that forbidden goods to his brother. With great affection, Bui Min asked A Cung to change. Tearfully, Bui Min apologized to A Cung because he could not be a good brother for him. Hugged each other and cried, A Cung told Bui Min his determination to be released from drugs abuse, considering what they have done to their mother.

For 3 days, Bui Min as well as his mother took care of A Cung who tried to release from drugs. Faithfully and patiently, Bui Min looked after A Cung and tried to meet A Cung’s needs. Bui Min was even willing to spend tens of millions rupiah for the sake of his brother. But when they were careless, evil returned to threaten his brother’s life.

Without family’s knowing, A Cung’s friends visited and injected him with the drugs. At that moment, Bui Min was at the store. After going home, Bui Min saw A Cung’s friends came out of his room. When Bui Min looked for his brother, he found that A Cung looked like poisoned. Immediately, A Cung went into hospital.

After being treated for a few hours, A Cung was getting better. However, while Bui Min was at the store and the situation seemed good, suddenly he got bad news. A Cung took his last breath. Bui Min immediately rode his motorcycle to the hospital. Bui Min only found his brother’s dead body there.

“I have failed, totally failed as a brother. I should have paid attention to my brothers and sisters. I told God, “let me take my brother’s sins”,” Bui Min said in his testimony while his eyes glistened with tears.

Regret will always be regret. Bui Min tried to forget that bitter incident. He returned to night life and drugs. But failure seemed to always follow him. Only disappointment and despair left. At the moment, Bui Min felt the fear in his heart. Once upon a time while he was confused, Bui Min could only walk and cried at midnight. While looking at the sky, Bui Min cried out and wandered God’s presence.

However, while he was looking at the sky, Bui Min was reminded of his childhood experience. At that time, Bui Min was going to religion class in the school. As a matter of fact, there were no enough chairs in the classroom, so Bui Min had to take another chair from Christian religion class. That was when the teacher called him to front of the class and prayed for him. The teacher prayed so that Lord Jesus came into Bui Min’s heart and he could find Jesus as the only way, the truth, and the life.

In his despair, God led Bui Min to enter his room and pray. Bui Min later prayed using simple words and cried. At that moment, Bui Min had an encouragement to go to church. But Bui Min did not know which church he should go to. Until one day Bui Min met his old school friend. Bui Min had information from him about one certain church. His friend even picked Bui Min up on Sunday and brought him to church.

After 3 weeks joining the worship in the church, a certain thing touched his heart. There were some words which became rhema in his heart: only God who is able to help us. Bui Min found that he was the one who needed help and Bui Min knew God would like to help him. Bui Min stepped forward in the altar call and asked for pray. Bui Min felt that all sins and mistakes he had done in the past, were taken away at the very moment. Bui Min felt power flowed and strengthened him. He felt God’s love in his life. Bui Min totally felt something new in his life; it’s not the same Bui Min in the past.

Since then, Bui Min was committed to release from drugs and night life. But Bui Min had never imagined that the drugs he had left would return and try to take Dina’s life. Dina was his elder sister. One day, Bui Min found Dina overdosed herself with drugs in her room. Bui Min embraced Dina and prayed for her immediately. Bui Min realized that Dina would not survive. Nevertheless, when he prayed for Dina, Bui Min knew there was still breath of life and Dina was still alive.

“Brother A Min frequently advised me to stop consuming drugs. Because of drugs, I lost one of my brothers and Brother A Min would never let his sister pass away because of drugs. Brother A Min always advised me and never stopped encouraging me to break free from drugs. He always supported me, encouraged me, took me to hospital, brought me to detoxification treatment… the main thing was he always helped me,” Dina told her story of repentance and breaking free from drugs.

Bui Min’s patience and love were obviously able to encourage Dina’s passion so that she can be healed. But deep down inside his heart, Bui Min knew that his disappointment with his father was still left. Until one day, Bui Min attended a retreat. In the retreat, Bui Min was touched about the healing of father’s heart. Bui Min was reminded of his disappointment with his father and how his father had treated him all this time, also how bad their relationship was. Bui Min considered that it was not appropriate to have such relationship with his own father. At that moment, Bui Min completely forgave his father.

In 2003, Bui Min reopened business in embroidered clothing. God bless his work continually. Later in 2007, God unified Bui Min and a woman in a marriage. The wounded heart has been healed by God. Bui Min and his father’s relationship was being healed. Now, hope for his father always abides in Bui Min’s heart.

“I have a desire to be friendly with my father, to share each other, love each other, and care for each other,” Bui Min said in the end of his testimony.
