The Heroic Act

1346Hebrews 11:32
And what
more shall I say? For the time would fail me to tell of Gideon and Barak and
Samson and Jephthah, also of David and Samuel and the prophets:

There are
two kinds of hero. First, those who do heroic act and are fearless and
sacrifice themselves for the sake of others. In the movie “The Perfect Storm”
you can see how some heroic fishermen save other people and disregard for their
own safety.
The second
kind of hero is those who react actively to life’s challenges. They are
volunteers deserve an appreciation for fighting for the poor, the neglected
children, and the oppressed. They consistently show heroic acts in their life.
David
Livingstone is a missionary who has been preaching the gospel for years and
fighting for African slavery. In his funeral, a grey-haired man wept and said,
“I am not crying for him (Livingstone) but for myself, because Livingstone has
lived for something while I have been living for nothing.”
The biggest
tragedy in life is living without purpose, or a glamorous life that won’t last
forever. But then we realize at one point that we are ashes and dust.
In Hebrews
11:32 we see that the writer of the book doesn’t have time to tell the stories
of every hero in the Bible. They had been moved by love and faith to share
their own life with many people and they were willing to suffer all for the
good. God also wants us to live our life sharing love with others, that someday
we will not regret time we have spent.
We will live a meaningful life as we
give ourselves for others.
