Obedience is the main requirement in following Jesus. If we say that we love Him, and we are His followers, then we have to obey what He commands. Living by the Spirit means we are led by Him, and there is obedience of what He says.

If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit. (Galatians 5:25)
