Unite in Humility to Do Excellence

I am always reminded of Nehemiah when I hear the word “unite,” the story of Nehemiah’s humility to unite the people of his time to rebuild the wall of Jerusalem. Through the story, we can see that the most important thing in becoming united is to share a common vision and goal, that is, to rebuild the wall of Jerusalem. Because of that, we need to know the reason why we need to unite, be it the goal, ambition, or vision that we share with others. Working alone is never a joyful thing, completely different than when we’re working together. When working together, we can always celebrate it together every time we achieve success, and so there are more happiness. In other words, we’re multiplying happiness.

In ministry or in work, unity is crucial. There is no way anyone of us can work an entire ministry on his or her own.

“If you want to go fast, you go alone. But if you want to go far, you have to go with others.”

Just like Nehemiah, we all need humility in order to realize unity. Humility is the ultimate identity of those living in Christ, something that is natural, not forced or developed. People become selfish because they are not content or happy enough with having Jesus. That’s why we need to build an intimate relationship with Him, again, and again.

“Work at telling others the Good News, and fully carry out the ministry God has given you.”

– 2 Timothy 4:5

After that, we need to do our work or ministry with all our efforts. We need to do our calling with everything we’ve got. We should not hesitate, we should not change, we should do it with all our efforts, we should give it our all, not only half or a quarter. Only then will we be guaranteed success.

Do not fear! You can do and achieve anything with Christ. You may get disappointed with the result you get, but do believe, if that’s the result you get after doing your best, then that means it’s the best result for you. This is what we call do excellence

Do not worry! Once you have given it your all, promotion will come and find you for free, because God will raise you up. Like Daniel, David, and Joseph who always do the best for the Lord. If not for giving his best, Joseph might have ended up a slave until his death.
