The Philosophy of Sunflower

Among various kinds of flowers, do you know that there is one with a large diameter of bloom, with yellow color, stunning appearance, and recognizable seeds at the center of its petals? It is not a difficult guess by any means, as we all must be familiar with sunflower, a very popular flower and liked by so many people, from children to adults. Although it is quite difficult to find these flowers in our country, there is a unique philosophy in this attractive tall flower. Sunflower always grows towards the direction of the sun, which serves the reason why it is called sunflower in the first place.
Sunflowers is always faithful in following the direction of the sun from its rise to set, although the heat may hurt its petals. It radiates joy through its vibrantly yellow petals. This flower also has a deep philosophy because it is able to stand strong, tough, straight, and elegantly. Very deep and beautiful isn’t it? This philosophy is somehow familiar with the following story from Linda, which we share especially to bless your day.
Linda regularly consults with our counseling center, Sahabat 24. She is also a CBN Partner. During a visit from CBN team at her place, Linda shared a story of her struggle a couple years back with her siblings. “After our parents passed away, we found out that our land certificate was made collateral for a loan. The case was already filed to the court,” said Linda, starting her testimony. “I was really frustrated at the time. I could not come up with a solution to save the house and at one point I bang my head to the walls under the pressure. Fortunately, later on the bank was willing to let us pay for the house in installments. I believe that it was all thanks to the prayer support from CBN counselors. Praise the Lord, today all of our debts for the house, about 70 million rupiahs, are already settled,” Linda concluded.
During her struggle with the loan and her house, Linda was often bullied and mocked by her peers. Because despite being stuck in such an unfortunate predicament, Linda remained loyal in making donation as a CBN Partner. “I said, I am proud of being a CBN Partner.” Although I can only make small contribution, it is for the goods of other people.” But it was not her only struggle, as it turned out that Linda also suffered from asthma since she was still in high school. Thankfully, she has already been cured from this disease as well, which she believes is also because of the prayer supports she receives from Sahabat 24. Linda thoroughly believes that all blessings and miraculous turnabouts that she experiences in her life all are thanks to prayer.
We can see through Linda’s testimony a small example of the many miracles God performs upon this world. As Linda’s partner, we also feel blessed by her testimony. Her loyalty and faith in praying and giving, her willpower in going against struggle and mockeries, and her cheerfulness that she expresses through the pride she takes in contributing for others, all embody the deep philosophy of the sunflower.
