Generasi Zeru once again invites Ignatius Rosoinaya Penyami, better known as Igor Saykoji. In the music segment of Generasi Zeru, Igor and Guntur Simbolon performed a song by Disciples titled Every Man’s Struggle. Before performing the song, Igor first delivered a testimony concerning the sin of pornography.
This song tells about the process when I realized that watching porn had become a bad habit for me. Through this song, I would want others to know that there is always a solution though not instant,” he said. Igor then continued his testimony on how he was able to break free from pornography. “We should be honest and open, this should be the first step, to admit to God that what we do is wrong. The more we think it is not a bad thing, that it is normal, the more accustomed we would be with the habit. The second step is to be open with other people around us,” said Igor. In his opinion, the sin of pornography has plagued both adults and youth. This is because it is easier nowadays for everyone to access information, including porn, as opposed to how it was back then. Sometimes, this pornographic content often even intrudes on us through spam mails or pop-up ads, with or without our consent. Concerning this, Saykoji provided some tips for Generasi Zeru viewers. “In my opinion, if it is that easy to access bad contents, it should be that easy as well to access positive contents. We can choose to develop our talents and creativities instead, by deliberately accessing contents that are helpful to us, and not wasting our internet quota on porn,” he said jokingly.
This episode on pornography which aired on Global TV on Saturday, April 9th 2016, has inspired about 265 thousand of young people. Even this day, television still remains an effective media to develop positive values in youth. Proverbs 25:25 reads “Like cold water to a weary soul is good news from a distant land.” Let us hope what Igor said through his testimony in Generasi Zeru could inspire those who are stuck in sin of pornography.
Generasi Zeru is more than just a television program, it is part of a youth movement aimed to make disciple of young generation. Until today, there are about 15 passionate youth who applied as coaches of Generasi Zeru movement. They have completed their training during the Coaching Day in February, before moving on to schools where the coaching activities would be held. The coaching is currently in progress, with about 50 schools to host the activities in December 2016. One of the coaches recounted how a student in his cell group was really enthusiast with the activity. He confessed to his coach that his dating lifestyle might have crossed the line. He then asked for guidance.
