Avoided AIDS by Turning Away from Premarital Sex

A news went viral recently about Ina Si Nononk, a Junior High School student who uploaded her photos with her boyfriend in Social Media. In some of these nearly graphic photos, Ina and her lover were shown to behave intimately almost like a married couple. These photos quickly went viral and were harshly criticized by the online public.

Whatever the motivation behind the uploading of the photos, the public should be aware that this is nothing new and is in fact a phenomenon that has occurred among the Indonesian youth. Data has shown that cases of premarital sex keep on increasing every year among students, some of which are still very young. This risks helping the spread of the HIV/AIDS disease. A study conducted by National Agency of Population and Family Planning (BKKBN) in 2007 shows that 1 percent of female teenagers and 6 percent of male teenagers admit to already having sex. The result of this study was indeed factual; even a longtime viewer of Solusi admitted that he has also committed sex during his youth, which almost got him infected with HIV/AIDS. Listen to his testimony.

"Just call me Wawan, I’m from North Maluku. One day, I called CBN Counseling Center to support me through prayer so I could let go of my addiction to commit sexual activities outside of marriage. Premarital sex was a bad habit that dates back since I was in high school, when I often did it with some of my friends after we watched porn. Thankfully one day, I discovered Solusi program and came across a testimony that really made me feel afraid and guilty for what I had been doing. I immediately contacted CBN Counseling Center that night to confess my sins, and it was also at that moment that I decided to repent. I was really thankful for God’s forgiveness to me. When I was enrolling into the Police Academy, I was able to pass all the tests, including the health test which states that I am in a very healthy condition.

However a surprise caught me later when I contacted one of my friends who used to watch porn and had sex. He/she told me that the doctor told him/her that he/she has contacted HIV/AIDS. I suddenly realized that I could have caught the same disease had God not shown me the path to redemption. I am very thankful that I came across Solusi and CBN Counseling Center."
