The word “inheritance” usually relates to elite properties, abundant money, or power that are inherited to the successor generation. The Bible teaches us that leaving inheritance such as money to our children is commendable and praiseworthy.

In Proverb 13:22, a good father leaves an inheritance to his children to guarantee their future. The inheritance itself is not wealth; instead, it is an inheritance that money cannot buy, non-taxable, and cannot be taken over. It is the spiritual inheritance—the perpetual and the most precious wealth.

In his book “What is a family?” Edith Schaeffer tells that a family is where the inheritance is inherited. We can see in Deuteronomy 6:7 that the spiritual inheritance must be left to the children and the whole family. Beside the family, the precious inheritance also needs to be spread to anyone surround us, such as colleagues, neighbors, and friends.

Have we had the spiritual inheritance that we collect by making examples and showing godly values? Which is good to build the receiver’s character and influence his life?
