In Central Java, Compassionate Discipleship Helps Children Heal from Their Pain

Charly never knew what it felt like to grow up in a complete family, surrounded by full and steady love.
When his parents separated and he was lived with his grandmother’s, he carried a deep wound. He grew up as a quiet and withdrawn child, feeling as though the world had left him alone.
But children’s discipleship through a local church partner in Central Java changed Charly’s life forever. Through CBN’s ministry center in Central Java, School of Life at El Roy Tlogosari Church of the Assembly of God reaches out to children like Charly. Four years ago, he joined this program for the first time and carrying deep wounds from his family.
With all the pain he had kept inside, the tutors continued to support him and provided Charly a safe and loving space - something he had never experienced at home. One of the lessons that left the deepest impact on his heart was the module “Who Am I to God?” Through this lesson, he began to understand that his life is valuable.
“Even though my father and mother left me when I was little, now I know there is a God who loves me,” Charly shared.
Today, Charly is 14 years old. He is an accomplished student, friendly, and has successfully entered the junior high school he had hoped for. Although he is no longer a student at Elroy School of Life, what makes the tutors most proud is his desire to bless other children at School of Life through his musical talent.
This is what we long to continue doing through CBN’s Ministry Center in Central Java. Together with more than 900 local churches in Central Java, we desire to reach and disciple children aged 3–14 through Super5 Preschool, Superbook Sunday School, School of Life learning centers, and The Parenting Project for parents.
Since May 2026, CBN’s Ministry Center in Central Java has continued to strengthen its holistic discipleship ecosystem across 10 communities. We are supporting and equipping churches through a range of trainings, including Superbook discipleship curriculum training, Super5 early childhood education training, media and technology training, and health services.
Through collaboration with cross-sector partners—including local government, institutions, and Christian schools—CBN’s presence is helping strengthen the holistic discipleship ecosystem in Central Java. Together, we are reaching children, parents, and entire surrounding communities with the life-changing love of Jesus.
