Imagine a small house in Botombawo Village, North Nias. Ten people share one roof, while the father, a rubber laborer, leaves before sunrise and only returns when the sky has already turned dark. Their meals are almost always the same: plain rice, sometimes with boiled vegetables. Side dishes are very rare.
In that home lives Hiktun, a four-year-old child and the sixth of seven siblings. When Hiktun started school, his friends brought meals with a variety of foods, while he only brought plain rice, without any side dishes or vegetables.
Then, on Monday morning, good news came.
When Breakfast Was No Longer Just Plain Rice
That day, Hiktun’s school, SPS BNKP Jemaat Botombawo, began implementing the Nutritious Breakfast Program with Obor Berkat Indonesia. Every morning, the children were welcomed with meals that were far more nutritious: eggs, milk, bread, and rice served with side dishes.
For Hiktun, this was not an easy transition. Much of the food was still unfamiliar to him because it was rarely served at home. He even cried once when he was asked to finish a boiled egg and vegetables. But his teacher did not give up. Patiently, she explained to Hiktun that the food would help him become healthy and smart.
Slowly but surely, Hiktun began to adjust. He started finishing his meals eagerly and even reminded his mother at home to cook vegetables too.
The result can be seen in Hiktun’s physical growth, which has continued to improve. He used to look weak and tired, but now he is always excited to go to school. This change has brought joy and gratitude to Hiktun’s parents, who are thankful that their child can receive nutritious breakfasts at school.
“Thank you, OBI, for providing breakfast for our child, Hiktun. We pray that everyone who has given this support will always be blessed by God,” his mother shared.

Hundreds of Children Are Still Waiting for Nutritious Breakfast
Hiktun is one of the many children who received support through the Nutritious Breakfast Program we provided at two Super5 early childhood education centers in Nias in 2024: SPS BNKP Jemaat Hiligeo Mazingo and SPS BNKP Jemaat Botombawo. Today, Hiktun is growing into a healthy and strong child.
Since June 2026, we have provided nutritious breakfasts for 199 children in six Super5 early childhood education centers in Nias. More than simply filling empty stomachs, we ensure that every child receives a nutritious breakfast as a foundation for their physical growth, character formation, and academic development during their golden years.
Thank you, CBN Partners. You came at the right time for these children, just as you did for Hiktun.
Yet in many other remote areas across Indonesia, many Super5 PAUD children are still waiting for the same opportunity.
Your donation today can become a plate of breakfast for one child tomorrow morning.
Let us become a bridge of love to build a healthy, strong, and bright generation.
