From Busyness to Presence: Mrs Putri and Husband's Love in Action for Their Children

The Parenting Project

Children are often the most vulnerable when a family begins to fall apart. When a husband treats his wife harshly, children lose the role model they are meant to look up to. Likewise, when parents become too busy with work and forget to make time, emotional distance grows—and children slowly begin to feel alone.

This was the reality once faced by Mrs. Putri, her husband Marcel, and their three children.

At such a young age, their children had already witnessed their mother to endure abuse from their father. After long days at work, Marcel’s exhaustion often made him unwilling to be disturbed— even by his own children. Without realizing it, he was repeating the wounds of his own childhood, shaped by the absence of a father figure in his life.

In a marriage often marked by violence and absence, God was at work through the prayers Mrs. Putri faithfully lifted up. At one of the darkest points in his life, Marcel encountered God personally—and his life was transformed.

'It turned out that my wife had been praying for me for five years, bringing everything before God. That was the moment I realized I was valued in His eyes,' Marcel shared.

From that point on, he began learning how to truly love his wife. But as a husband and father, he still wasn't sure how to actually show up for his kids.

His longing to be a more present dad finally found its way when their family joined The Parenting Project at Calvary Chapel in 2025. Through a module titled 'Filling the Emotional Tank', Marcel and Putri discovered that what children need most is not material things — it's presence and love. Since then, the busyness that once filled his days has slowly been replaced with unasked-for hugs, sincere words of affirmation, and a genuine involvement in the everyday moments of their children's daily lives.

The atmosphere at home began to change. Marcel is no longer present only as a provider, but as a father who is truly close to his children. One of the most touching moments of restoration happened during a Valentine’s event at their church, where children washed their parents’ feet. It was there that Marcel asked his children for forgiveness and promised to become a better father. Tears of joy and warm embraces filled the moment.

“God didn’t just restore our family — He also healed my heart as a wife,” Mrs. Putri shared.

What Has The Parenting Project Accomplished?

As of March 2026, more than 1,000 parents have 7 teaching series from The Parenting Project — not just in their relationships with their children, but also in their personal lives. Through local churches, we continue to train and equip parents to become better for their children.

All of this is possible because of you. Every contribution from CBN Partners has become a bridge of restoration for families in Indonesia—families like Marcel and Putri’s.

There are still many parents who need this help.

Be part of their transformation!
