CBN Indonesia Humanitarian Team Moves to North Sumatra & Aceh During Emergency

Kemanusiaan

As of December 31, 2025, hydrometeorological disasters affecting North Sumatra and Aceh had forced hundreds of thousands of families to leave their homes. BNPB data records 368,229 people displaced and facing days full of uncertainty.

Amid this situation, through its humanitarian ministry team Obor Berkat Indonesia (OBI), CBN Indonesia reached 28,565 affected people, delivering aid and bringing hope in the midst of crisis.

During the 30-day emergency response, OBI teams reached across 13 districts and cities in North Sumatra and Aceh. These included 9 areas in North Sumatra—Deli Serdang, Humbang Hasundutan, Langkat, Medan, Nias, South Nias, Sibolga, Central Tapanuli, and North Tapanuli. And 5 areas in Aceh, including Banda Aceh, Aceh Tamiang, Southeast Aceh, Langsa, and Alur Tani Village.

Through your continued support, we were able to distribute various forms of humanitarian aid across the affected areas, including:

  • Food Assistance

5,825 food packages consisting of staple foods and ready-to-eat meals, serving 24,369 beneficiaries

  • Non-Food Items

5,728 shelter kits (blankets, mats, tarpaulins, emergency lamps, generators)

  • Children’s Supplies

1,107 school supply kits distributed to child survivors

  • Health & Psychosocial Services

24 mobile clinic services providing medical care to 1,662 patients and 14 psychosocial support activities reaching 641 people, including child-focused support through outdoor movie screenings and group play sessions with Superbook Indonesia.

  • Hygiene Kits Distribution

100 hygiene kits distributed across three affected communities

Behind the process of distribution aid, there were many challenges we faced. Limited land access to several areas—such as Sibolga and Langkat—initially made it difficult for us to deliver assistance quickly. However, through collaboration with Regional Disaster Management Agency and the Indonesian Air Force, aid was still able to reach affected communities via air transportation. We are also deeply grateful for the dedication of medical teams, CBN Indonesia field facilitators, and local volunteers who willingly traversed these challenging areas with full commitment, enabling hundreds of children and families to receive much-needed assistance.

Above all that we were able to do on the ground, it was the support of our Partners and donors that made this emergency response possible. We sincerely thank you for every prayer, act of care, and expression of generosity.

May every family who received help truly experience God’s love through each helping hand you extended.
