In the past, Mr. Kristian (43 years old) always prioritized his passion for cockfighting over helping his wife take care of their three children. If disturbed while engaged in his hobby, he would get angry, which often made his wife feel like she was raising their children alone without her husband’s presence.
“My hobby is cockfighting. So, before I go to the office in the morning, I take care of that first,” Mr. Kristian said. “I work from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m., and when I get home from work, I usually go straight to my hobby.”
One day, an invitation to a parent meeting from their children's teacher changed everything. His wife encouraged him to attend a discipleship session from The Parenting Project. Mr. Kristian reluctantly agreed, saying, “Alright, let’s try it. Maybe we’ll learn something.”
After attending 8 out of 11 modules from The Parenting Project, Mr. Kristian and his wife experienced significant changes. From the first module, “Becoming a Good Example,” he realized how important parents are in shaping their children’s character.
“Turns out, children are always watching their parents. So when the video was played, I realized, ‘Oh yes, what I’ve been doing all this time was wrong.’”
Now, Mr. Kristian continues to apply every lesson in his daily life. He has learned to be a present father by spending time with his children and has embraced his role as a husband by getting involved in parenting and establishing a living prayer altar at home.
“I hope programs like The Parenting Project continue. Many parents will feel blessed by this initiative.”
