I John 4:7

Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God.

Bible Reading for a Year [bible]psalm114[/bible]; [bible]iipet1[/bible]; [bible]ezeki33-35[/bible]

Two friends met after one of them decided to follow Jesus while the other was an atheist. Here is their conversation:

“So, you converted and now you are the follower of Christ?”

“Yes.”

“You must have known much about Him, such as where He was born.”

“I have no idea where He was born.”

“How old was He when He died?”

“I don’t know.”

“How many times did He preach?”

“I don’t know.”

“Well, you said that you have converted and now you are a follower of Christ but you know very few about Him.”

“Exactly. I am ashamed because I don’t know much about Him. But at least I know these things: Three years ago, I was a drunk. I was drowning in debt. I grew up in a broken home. My wife and children were afraid if I went home. But now I am not a drunk anymore. I paid off my debt. We are a happy family. My children are looking forward to my arrival at home every afternoon. These are what God has done in my life. That’s what I know about Jesus.”

Our relationship with Jesus is not like a history, which is based on how much we know about Jesus. The relationship is not like mathematics, too. We cannot measure it on how many times He blesses us, how many times He helps us, and so on. Our relationship with Him is definitely between two individuals. It doesn’t take any knowledge, intelligence, or any other great things.

A relationship is built on love between one another. When God loves us and we love Him, then the relationship becomes more intimate. And so it is with relationship between people. David and Jonathan are friends and they love each other, more than they love their siblings. Joseph loves his brothers even though they had hurt him.

Today we might not understand how God works, why He is unseen, why we suffer even more than before we follow Him. But we should believe that His love makes life more beautiful. Build the relationship with our Creator, and do it with love, trust, total surrender unto Him.

The greatest miracle God has ever done is not healing the blind, the paralyzed, or the deaf. But the greatest miracle is when He changes the heart of the sinners and turn them into people who love God and others.
